Forty-three years ago yesterday the Israeli military attacked and killed more than thirty Americans on board the U.S.S. Liberty, a United States Navy intelligence vessel.
Every year the survivors of the U.S.S. Liberty and the family members of the victims gather at the Arlington National Cemetery to commemorate the tragic events that took place in 1967.
For forty years the survivors of the attack, sworn under oath, were forbidden to tell their story. Now many surviving crewmen are demanding a congressional investigation into what happened and why. Some believe the attack was deliberate. "The Israelis claimed it was a mistaken identity, and the United States government bought that explanation." Hear them tell their story.
