In this clip Dobbs and Stossel seem to skirt the real issue surrounding global economics and "free trade." Sure, each makes reasonable arguments for and against free trade, Dobbs coming out strongly against.

But what it really comes down to is this: during the era of pro-American economics the United States was the most industrious nation with the best credit rating in history. Since entering the era of global economics the USA has become technically bankrupt and is now dependent on other nations not only for fiscal support but even for manufacturing support. America is no longer truly a superpower. No nation can think of itself as a world leader when it can not even clothe itself without dependence on its rival: China.
