"Total New Reality: Mankind Is Politically Awakened," Zbig to CFR

Zbigniew Brzezinski ("Zbig") served as United States National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981 and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. The CFR includes the most influential foreign-policy think tank, the David Rockefeller Studies Program, composed of about fifty adjunct and full-time scholars, as well as ten in-resident recipients of year-long fellowships, who cover the major regions and significant issues shaping today’s international agenda (Inter Press Service, Aug. 2005).

In a recent, almost stunning address Zbig informed the CFR that the formation of a single transnational world system is being complicated by the fact that all over the planet people are more aware of what's going on in world politics than ever before in history: a "total new reality: mankind Is politically awakened," said Mr. Brzezinski.

A member of the audience raised the question: "Some people are talking about one-world government. How do you view the UN right now?"

Zbig: "There should be such an organization...But it doesn't exist. Because we don't have...a concentrated source of power that has universal reach. Not even America has that...But the UN is not a world government."
