Robots To Make Even More Americans Unemployed

Unemployment remains the biggest concern for many Americans, and more jobs may soon be lost. Kiva Systems has a new robot that may take over many roles previously held by humans. While this may mean an increase in productivity, it also has the potential to eliminate good-paying jobs.

Job elimination used to result from what technologists referred to as "labor-saving" automation. Today, however, job elimination from automation is threatening more and more semi-skilled and skilled occupations. The Kiva system is so efficient that there is simply no way that humans can compete for the job. Look for more unemployment ahead as more and more industry functions are replaced by faster, more accurate robotics. And the robots never complain or ask for paid sick days.
